St Helena’s Catholic Primary School began its journey in 1999 as Ellenbrook Catholic Primary School, welcoming 45 students from Kindergarten to Year 2. The school was officially blessed and opened on 14 September 1999, the Feast of the Holy Cross. Later that year, Archbishop Barry Hickey, then Archbishop of Perth, recommended the school be named in honour of St Helena, a woman of deep faith and devotion to the Holy Cross. Her legacy continues to inspire our mission and values today.
Since those early days, St Helena’s has grown alongside the Ellenbrook community, now educating over 500 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school has evolved into a dynamic and inclusive learning environment, offering a wide range of programs and opportunities that reflect our commitment to nurturing the whole child.
Today, St Helena’s features state-of-the-art facilities, including a purpose-built music room that supports a vibrant performing arts program. Our ExACT extension program challenges and engages high-achieving students, while our Diverse Learning program ensures every child receives the support they need to thrive. Our dedicated Early Childhood learning spaces promote play and discovery and our students enjoy a rich range of playgrounds and outdoor spaces throughout the school day. We offer a variety of clubs and co-curricular activities that enrich student life, including gardening club, choir, dance, and a range of sporting opportunities that promote teamwork, wellbeing and school spirit.
Throughout our history, we have remained true to our Catholic identity, placing Jesus Christ at the centre of all we do. Our motto, “Something Beautiful for God,” continues to guide our community in faith, learning and service. St Helena’s is more than a school – it is a place where every child is known, valued and supported to grow in body, mind, heart and spirit.
