St Helena’s provides students with the following subjects taught by specialist teachers:

MUSIC

At St Helena’s, our Music lessons aim to inspire a lifelong love of music in our students. We explore musical concepts through singing, movement, performance, listening, and composition. Our lessons are guided by students’ interests and are filled with fun, creativity, and hands-on experiences using instruments such as ukuleles, keyboards and drum kits.

ART

Our Visual Art program nurtures creativity and self-expression, allowing students to communicate ideas and emotions through visual media. Through engaging activities such as drawing, painting, and sculpting, students develop both cognitive and fine motor skills. Our Art lessons also promotes cultural awareness, collaboration, and imagination, helping to create an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.

ITALIAN

In Italian lessons at St Helena’s, students learn to communicate through speaking, listening, and exploring the culture behind the language. Fun, hands-on activities like songs, rhymes, role play, and performances help students practise greetings and share simple information. By comparing Italian with English, students develop curiosity about how languages and cultures connect.

SCIENCE

St Helena’s Science lessons are fun and hands-on, allowing students to explore the world around them through exciting investigations. Children investigate how things move, grow, and change while making predictions and testing their ideas in safe, playful activities. Each lesson sparks curiosity and wonder, helping students see themselves as little scientists, discovering how Science is part of their everyday lives.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

At St Helena’s Primary Catholic School, our Physical Education program promotes lifelong fitness, teamwork, and well-being. There is a focus on building physical and health literacy, developing skills, and encouraging enjoyment in sport – helping every child grow in confidence and lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

At St Helena’s students from Year 1 to Year 6 participate in physical education lessons as well as weekly Junior and Senior Sport activities, allowing them to experience a range of different sports such as cricket, netball, football, dance and volleyball. The students are also involved in Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming Lessons. Early Years children participate in daily movement activities that promote gross motor skills such as climbing, throwing, catching and jumping.
